In 2025, the Nexon EV by Tata Motors combines practicality, performance, range option, and safety into a compelling proposition to dominate the electric SUV segment in India. With updated battery packs, credible safety credentials, and a growing support ecosystem—the Nexon EV is tailor-made for future users and sustainability-savvy tech-heads.
Nexon EV battery packs include:
As for the motor, 30 kWh versions generate around 95 kW, while 45 kWh versions in a truly different G3 architecture produce total system output of 106 kW; torque is ~215Nm across models. It takes around ~9 seconds to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in the higher range variant.
Charger Type | 30 kWh Variant | 45 kWh (“Max”) Variant |
---|---|---|
AC Home Charger (~3.3-7.2 kW) | ~4–4.3 hours (7.2 kW) from 10–100% | ~6-6.5 hours with 7.2 kW AC wall box |
DC Fast Charger (50-60 kW CCS) | 10-80% in ~56 minutes | 10-80% in ~40 minutes with >60 kW charger |
Portable 15A Charger | ~8-10.5 hours | 17-18 hours (for 45 kWh using 15A) |
India’s charging infrastructure is steadily growing—Tata offers over 23,000+ EV charging stations and 24×7 emergency support in major cities.
The Nexon EV offers a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating—consistently seeks to be a safer vehicle on the basis of six 6 airbags, ABS+EBD, ESP(ITS, European homologation, and various country specifications), traction control, hill hold control, electric parking brakes, and follow-me home lights.
The interior offers plenty of features—convenience infused into the cabin; up to 12.3-in infotainment screens with wireless Android Auto / Apple Car Play, V2L & V2V functionally, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats on top trims, wireless charging, roof glass, etc.
Although the MIDC numbers are promising; on a day to day basis we see lower effective ranges:
Service quality is inconsistent by region—some report positive build quality and durability; others warn of infrequent aftersales gaps.
In September 2023, a significant update was helpful to Nexon EV owners as an unlimited kilometers lifetime battery warranty for 15 years is now published for the Nexon EV 45 kWh variant.
Further, the recently announced GST reductions do not impact pricing for Nexon EV. As opposed to the two other Tata models in petrol and diesel where reduced taxes could increase their competitiveness, the electric car is unaffected.
“My car went 224 km until the battery died … crawling traffic … on the highway”.
“I did a trip with 200 km distance … it was charging at 80 % … when I got to the next stop, I had good range left. Public fast charging is doable if you plan well.”
The Tata Nexon EV is not just another electric car in its price class in India, but is arguably the best in its segment—as all the EV ducks are in a row: good safety, a big feature list, choice of batteries, and for 2024, super improved warranty support.
If you want a family-friendly, reliably powerful and adaptable EV for urban mobility and roadtrips, with recognizably strong build and user value, then the 45 kWh "EV Max" configuration makes great sense—which just requires good planning for your charging infrastructure.
