Tata Motors' Curvv EV heralds a new era in the electric SUV segment in India. Launched in 2024, the Curvv EV is a coupe-style subcompact crossover with bold styling, great performance, advanced safety and high-tech features. The Curvv EV status is in between Nexon EV and Harrier EV in pricing and sizing. Thus, it is targeted to buyers who have an active lifestyle but do not need the premium SUV price range and can run out of range in a long weekend.
Tata offers two battery variants:
Variant | Battery | Motor / Power | ARAI-Claimed Range |
---|---|---|---|
Standard | 45 kWh LFP (Octillion/Eve) | 150 PS / 215 Nm | ≈ 502 km |
Long-Range (LR) | 55 kWh LFP (Gotion / Tata AutoComp) | 167 PS / 215 Nm | ≈ 585 km |
Top speed is ~160 km/h, and 0-100 km/h acceleration takes ~8.6-9 seconds depending on variant.
Fast Charging: 70 kW DC charger will do ~10-80% in ~40 min; can add ~150 km in ~15 min.
Home AC Charging: Will take ~6.5-7 hrs to fully charge the 45 kWh version using the 7.2 kW wall box; ~7.9 hrs for 55 kWh version.
15A Plug Charging: ~17.5 hrs for 45 kWh version; ~21 hrs for 55 kWh version.
Tata's C75 real-world drive test suggests the expected range for the 45 kWh pack is 330-350 km and for the 55 kWh version is 400-425 km under normal mixed driving. An independent Autocar India test, applied an efficiency of ~6.64 km/kWh, yielding mixed use~365 km.
With a coupe-like SUV design, the Curvv features a sloping roofline, a chrome strip that connects the DRLs and other sleek styling, flush door handles, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Its compact dimensions would suit city use: it is 4,308 mm long, 1,810 mm wide, 1,637-1,640mm tall, has a ground clearance of 190 mm and has 500 L of boot space along with a space in the front of the car, also known as a 'frunk.'
The Curvv features an interior with a 12.3-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well as a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.
The Curvv comes standard with six airbags, electronic stability control (ESP), all-round disc brakes, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, as well as hill-hold and hill-descent control.
On the higher trim levels, Tata now offers a level-2 ADAS suite with over 20 features on vehicle safety including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automated emergency braking.
The Curvv battery pack and motor also get a very good IP67 rating for ingress and water protection; and advanced Regenerative braking modes with paddle shifters; while also providing 3 drive modes – Eco, City, and Sport.
The ex-showroom prices for the Curvv initially started at ₹ 17.49 lakh for the entry-level 45 kWh variant and went to approximately ₹ 21.99 lakh for 55 kWh top trims.
They have recently added lifetime warranty to the battery (15 years, unlimited km) for the Curvv EV model to mitigate these issues and make people feel more comfortable about the battery degrading.
From verified user reviews:
A few owners have indicated slight quirks (the DRLs flickering from time to time, climate control behaves strangely, etc.) but the overall quality and comfort has been rated very highly.
In conclusion, the Tata Curvv EV packaging provides a superb combination of style, range, performance, safety, and value. For customers looking for an EV that isn't just for local trips and provides top-end specs with a new look, it’s a very strong option. If your goal is long-distance driving, fast charging, and safety, then go for the 55 kWh trim with DC fast-charge ready capability and the coverage for battery lifetime. If the only charges are AC, the better value will be the 45 kWh version. Eager for a test drive? This Curvv EV could become one of Tata's more exciting EVs in 2025.
